We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
as needed - Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with care plans and dietary restrictions, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards
- Administer medications safely following prescribed protocols and document administration in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Support residents during community outings or activities, encouraging social engagement and participation in recreational programs
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and sanitizing equipment
- Follow individualized care plans to provide personalized support tailored to each resident’s unique needs, including dementia or Alzheimer’s care, autism support, or hospice care
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize signs of distress or medical emergencies
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are highly valued
- Familiarity with care tools like Hoyer lifts, resident’s
, or other mobility aids for heavy lifting and safe transfers - Strong understanding of working with people with disabilities, developmental delays, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or autism spectrum disorders
- Ability to perform vital signs monitoring and basic nursing tasks while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Physical stamina for lifting or assisting residents during transfers or activities requiring heavy lifting; ability to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends if needed
Qualifications:
- Must have Med-cert 1 at least
- Valid Driver License and vehicle to commute
- First Aid- & CPR
- High-School Diploma
- Must be open to work in Perrysburg and Bowling green
- Must be able to work ADS and HPC
